9th of October 2018 Launch of the new Ukrainian High IP Court
British Ukrainian Law Association organised a breakfast briefing on the introduction of the new High IP Court in Ukraine. The roundtable presentation by the senior judiciaries and judicial administrators from Ukraine was followed by lively and thought provoking discussion. The Ukrainian delegation included Mr Igor Benedysiuk, the Chairman of the High Council of Justice; Mr Bogdan Lvov, Vice President of the Supreme Court, Dr Olena Orliuk, the Head of the Department of Intellectual Property at the National Academy of Science; Ms Olena Pryvalova, Communications Counsellor at the Presidential Administration; and Mr Konstantin Krasovsky, the Chief of the President’s Judicial Reform Department.
Our members and guests found this important conversation both interesting and stimulating. Jane Fedotova (EBRD), Alison Fenney (The Slynn Foundation), Michael Fysh QC and Stephen Rosen (Collyer Bristow) shared ideas how to progress the judicial reform measures and to train the judges and raised critical issues. The audience was very much involved and the Ukrainian delegation highly valued the opportunity to draw on knowledge and experience of their UK colleagues. The meeting lasted longer than the allocated two hours, with a warm farewell, handshakes and photos taken in front of the office of Collyers Bristow, who provided the venue and excellet breakfast.
BULA thanks Collyer Bristow for hosting the event and Mariia Tymofienko, the project manager at the Queen Mary Centre for Commercial Legal Studies for suggesting BULA to organise the event.
